These are the winning literary manuscripts submitted to the Utah Original Writing Competition. The Arts Council binds each of the winning manuscripts separately, and the bound volumes are maintained for five years in the Art Council's administrative office for public reading. The manuscripts include novels, nonfiction, biographies/autobiographies, book-length collections of poetry, juvenile books, young adult books, short collections of poetry, short stories, and personal essays. The Competition encourages the authors to publish these works by awarding cash and publication prizes. Although the winning manuscripts are bound at state expense, the authors retain full publication rights. Non-winning manuscripts are returned to their authors or made available for pick up at the Arts Council.
